Virgilio Sklar, Professional Counselor Associate

Vigi Sklar (he/him/él), Professional Counselor Associate

Vigi is a Professional Counselor Associate who believes that his clients are the experts of themselves, so he seeks to honor their lived experiences while finding greater agency when thoughts, emotions, and the body have been causing a sense of being stuck. Vigi especially likes to help clients explore gender and sexuality, process through the impacts of unresolved trauma, and develop a relationship with the many parts of self that influence our decision-making and emotions. Vigi has experience working with clients on anxiety, depression, childhood sexual abuse, complex trauma, interpersonal violence, sexual compulsivity, life transitions, difficulty expressing emotions, anger, and relationship struggles. He uses an integrative approach to therapy, and draws upon cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), internal family systems (IFS) therapy, EMDR, non-violent communication, and somatic-mindfulness approaches when working with clients. He has completed Parts 1 and 2 of EMDR training and can offer clients the full spectrum of EMDR services when indicated.

Vigi’s practice focuses on working with queer and trans adults and cisgender men. He is also delighted to work with adults of all backgrounds. Vigi identifies as a queer, cisgender male who is also a white Latino.

As a Professional Counselor Associate, Vigi is supervised by Nate Bagley, LPC.
